Summer Bishil Bio

Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). When she was three years older, her family moved to the United States. Summer was educated in American as well as British schools as her family lived abroad. She returned to Pasadena, California just shy of her fourteenth birthday. Summer was only five years old when she fell in love with acting. She enrolled in her first acting class. Nine months later she was signed by an agent and manager, and then began her career full time. When she isn't working, she goes to college and is studying for her degree. One of the young stars that were featured in Vanity Fair's cover story, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Most Hot Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was listed as one of the "Ten actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. At the age of 14 Bishil started acting classes. Within one year she signed a contract with an agency and a manager. Bishil started her career with the Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks. After that she was offered an agreement with a management and agency. Her breakthrough role came in the film of Alan Ball, Towelhead. It's an adaptation of the book of the same title. Dana Stevens, a Slate critic, stated that "Her performance in a movie that , despite its best intentions feels thoroughly phony as well as embarrassing and as if it were an extended PSA regarding inappropriate touching is the truthful thing." Bob Strauss, a Los Angeles newspaper reporter, claimed that Bishil "...is one of the most gifted natural actresses on film in recent times. Gary Goldstein, in a September 12, Los Angeles Times, review of Towelhead declared that Summer Bishil ("...newcomer) gives an impressive and quietly captivating performance as Jasira. In 2009, she filmed Wayne Kramer’s Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her performance. She was selected to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 film The Last Airbender, and was supposed to be the protagonist of the planned , but never produced sequel.
