Rosamund Pike
Born in
London, England in 1979, Rosamund Mary Elizabeth Pike was the sole child of
Caroline (Friend) (Friend), a classical violinist mom and Julian Pike, an opera
musician dad. Due to their job, she spent much of her childhood touring around
Europe. Pike went to Badminton School in Bristol, England and started acting at
the National Youth Theatre. Pike first appeared in the National Youth Theatre
production "Romeo and Juliet". She was signed by an agent after she
was observed. Pike also began acting at the National Youth Theatre. Although
her first film was a high-budget action movie, her film performances were
mostly in smaller independent films , such as Promised Land (2004) and The
Libertine (2004). She won the Best Supporting Actress Award at The British
Independent Film Awards for the film. Pride & Prejudice (2005) was her
first feature film. After a brief stint in Hollywood, Doom (2005) and Fracture
(2006) followed. She returned to film, delivering outstanding performances in
three smaller films. She was also in Johnny English Reborn (2011) and the
sci-fi drama Wrath of the Titans (2012). In the film, she starred with Tom
Cruise as her female lead in Jack Reacher (2012), she returned to action
movies.
