Sofia Margarita Vergara (Spanish: born on July 10, 1972) is a Colombian-American actress as well as a television producer, presenter and model. Vergara was the highest-paid actress on American television between 2013 until 2020.Vergara became famous after co-hosting two television shows for Spanish-language television channel Univision in the late 1990s. Chasing Papi (2003) was her first role in a major role in English. The following year, she was in Four Brothers (2005), Tyler Perry's Comedies Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009 which was nominated for an ALMA Award nomination). She was first seen as Gloria Delgado–Pritchett in the ABC comedy series Modern Family, for which she was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards and eleven Screen Actor Guild Awards. Her voice-overs included Happy Feet Two (2011) and Escape from Planet Earth (2013). She was also in The Emoji Movie (2017). Vergara was raised in Barranquilla by an Roman Catholic couple. [8] Vergara's mother Margarita Vergara was a homemaker while her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo was a cattle rancher. Her five siblings and many of her friends used to call her "Toti". Vergara studied three years of dentistry at National University of Colombia. However, she decided to withdraw from the school two semesters in advance to pursue opportunities in showbusiness and modeling.
