Rashida Jones
Rashida Jones was born in Los Angeles,
California to Quincy Jones, a media producer and mogul. Alongside Peggy Lipton,
Rashida is the younger sister of actress Peggy Lipton and Quincy Jones. Kidada
Jones is her older sister. She also has five half-siblings from her father's
other relationships. Her father is African-American and her mother is Ashkenazi
Jewish (a descendant from immigrants from Russia and Latvia). Rashida was
educated in Reform Judaism. She was raised in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California.
Jones has said of her dual race parents, "It was the 1970s and it's not
even that acceptable for them to be together." Jones began her
professional acting debut in The Last Don, a mini-series that aired in 1997
based on the novel written by Mario Puzo. In 1997, Rashida graduated from
Harvard University. She was a student at the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks
(California). Voted the Most Likely to be Successful. Her name is Arabic
(O+-O'UO-O(c)) meaning "Major adult, grown-up and wise". The People magazine's

Once engaged to music producer Mark Ronson on 25th February 2003. Niece of
Robert Lipton. She has been romantically tied to Josh Hartnett, Charlie Hunnam
and John Krasinski. Kidada Jones was her sister's engagement ring bearer and
she also sang as the vocalist in a Tupac Shakur tribute song. Kidada as well as
Rashida's brother Quincy Jones III composed the song. Quincy Jones III, their
father, also appeared in the opening, reciting Shakur's lines "Starry
Night". The poem was the inspiration behind the song's title. Rashida is
an African-American, and has less English, Scottish, or Welsh ancestral
ancestry than his mother (some of his African ancestors came from the Tikar
tribe from Cameroon). Rashida is Ashkenazi Jewish, of Russian Jewish and
Latvian Jewish descent. Her paternal grandparents were of South Carolina and
Mississippi, respectively. Her maternal grandfather was born in New York, and
her maternal grandmother was born in Dublin, Ireland, of Eastern European
Jewish origin. She has been playing three characters called "Karen"
from 2009 to present on the popular TV comedy series Freaks and Geeks (1999),
Stella (2006), and The Office (2005).
