Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger, was born in
Katy, Texas on April 25 the year 1969. Her mother, Kjellfrid (Andreassen) is a
former midwife and nurse born in Norway. Kven (Finnish), and also has Swedish
and Norwegian descent. Emil Erich Zellweger is her father. He is a Swiss
engineer. They were married in 1963. Drew Zellweger is Renee's brother, and he
was born on 15 February 1967. Renee was a part of the drama group in high
school and began to be attracted to acting. She took an acting course at the
University of Texas (Austin) and began thinking about acting as a profession.
Following graduation, she wanted to pursue acting but Hollywood is a tough town
to break into, and so Renee made the decision to stay in Texas and auditioned
for roles around Houston which she was able to secure roles in films such as
Reality Bites (1994) and Empire Records (1995). On the set of the sequel, Texas
Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994), she befriended Matthew
McConaughey, another Hollywood young star. Renee was able to observe him
working on a project which attracted her. She auditioned and was awarded the
role in Love and A.45 (1994). The role received enough praise from critics to
decide to move to Los Angeles. A further role in The Whole Wide World (1996)
was the next one, which eventually led to her biggest break. Cameron Crowe was
busy casting his next film, Jerry Maguire (1996),starring Tom Cruise. Crowe was
considering such actresses as Cameron Diaz, Bridget Fonda, Winona Ryder, and
Marisa Tomei when he heard of Zellweger's performance in The Whole Wide World
(1996). He auditioned Zellweger, and felt certain he had found the perfect
Dorothy Boyd. Renee followed her huge popularity with a few independent films.
After receiving further critical praise, she felt confident enough to reenter
the world of big-budget Hollywood films. Meryl Streep was the co-star in One
True Thing (1998). She also starred alongside Jim Carrey in Me, Myself
& Irene (2000) and began dating Carrey soon afterward. in the title
role in Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
