Pollyanna McIntosh
Pollyanna McIntosh was born in Portugal
and Colombia before returning to her hometown of Scotland in Scotland, where
she was born. It was here that she first began to perform on stage on stage at
The Edinburgh Festival. At the age of 16, she moved to London and soon became
involved in filmmaking in the indie genre (her first paid gig was as an actor
in Irvine Welsh's The Acid House (1998)) and theatre and acting as both an
actress as well as a director. A move to Los Angeles in 2004 brought new theatre
opportunities, including a production of "The Woolgatherer" and in
which she was director Anne Dudek (a regular on Mad Men (2007)/Big Love (2006))
as well as David Dayan Fisher (a regular on 24 (2001)/NCIS (2003)) to amazing
reviews. In Headspace (2005) she was offered her first US film role as
"Stacy" who was a manipulative, born-again Christian. The role was
later recast as "Thumper Wint", a rebellious, born-again Christian in
Sex and Death 101 (2006) (Simon Baker/Winona Rider) as played by Heathers (1988).
The critics were impressed with her unique combination of sensuality and
irreverent humor. The actress was in LA and London, Exam (2009) was the next
one, nominated BAFTA-nominated as Outstanding British Debut and winner of Best
Independent at the Santa Barbara Film Fest, the film's critics said that
Pollyanna's character was "smart and sassy in equal parts ....the
emotional heart of the film" They praised her ability to uncover the
"emotional vulnerability" of her supposedly strong and confident
character. GQ has stated that Pollyanna McIntosh, who is a phenomenal actor and
performer, is "extremely talented". Como Quien No Quiere La Cosa
(2013) (As if you Don't Like it! ) is a funny South American farce in which she
is Brit comedian Trevor Lock's angry wife. She speaks Spanish throughout the
film that was made in Peru. John Landis directs Burke and Hare (2010). She
portrays Isla Fisher's bestie , along with Andy Serkis and Jessica Hynes and
Tom Wilkinson. Lucky McKee's The Woman (2011), which she played the leading
role , was praised by critics at Sundance 2011. The film also placed first in
the New York Times' readers poll of the top films. She won three Best Actress
nominations, including Total Film's Frightfest Award as well as Fright Meter's.
