Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was a television personality, a former chef in the Institute of Culinary Education and formerly teaches cooking. She hosts The Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, with her famous spiky blonde hair and pumped-up persona on the Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Cook series, shares straightforward and simple methods for cooks at home. Chef Burrell was a student and worked at the top New York restaurants. He was also a part of Iron Chef America and the food scene of Italy. While growing up in the upstate New York area, Chef Burrell found a passion for cooking and food at a young age. The Culinary Institute of America was the next step for her after she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English as well as Communications from Canisius College Buffalo NY. She says "I loved being a Culinary Institute of American student. I enjoyed every moment." I couldn't learn enough couldn't achieve enough and couldn't push myself enough. After graduating Chef Burrell lived in Italy for a whole year attending the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Additionally, she worked at La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin highly rated restaurant) in Tuscany. Her time spent in Italy has helped her understand and appreciate Italian way of life and its culture which has had an impact on her own food and culinary experience. Burrell participates on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which brightens the lives of children who are struggling. Additionally, she is an Juvenile diabetes Research Foundation's Celebrity Advocate where she raises awareness about juvenile diabetics. She speaks about her cooking passion and shares her knowledge of the culinary world as she frequently travels throughout the US in both her roles as speaker and mentor. Anne, throughout her entire cooking journey, has said that it's a pleasure to have the opportunity to share this passion for food with other people.
